The lockdown, which has now exceeded a month, has brought different challenges to different people and sections of the society. While some problems have been solved, and others have found some solution, the migrant worker community has been affected seriously.

At VJ, not all our site labourers were able to get back home before the lockdown. With many of them stuck here, they faced anxiety and the fear of how to survive in these difficult times.

That's when VJ's very own Corona Warriors stepped in. A team of VJ volunteers led by Mr. John Marian, our Labour Management Head, showed that every member of the VJ family is equally important.

The team stepped out, took necessary permissions from the police and the administration, sourced grocery and sanitisation essentials and went about delivering the kits to the labourers stuck at various VJ project sites.

Led by John Marian, the team consisted of Bhabani Tripathy (Safety Officer, Palladio), Suresh Mahale (Safety Officer, YashOne Wakad Central), Salim Patil (Supervisor, Yashwin Hinjawadi), Shyam Bahadur Singh (Stores Assistant, Yashwin Encore) and Manasub Shaikh (Driver).

This team of Corona Warriors has delivered groceries to ensure 3 meals a day for 1600 site labourers, for the past 5 weeks, which counts to over 1,68,000 meals and we continue to distribute the same. It is a reflection of VJ's philosophy of putting people-first and caring for every VJ family member.

It is this spirit of goodness that binds us all together and gives hope of fighting the odds and overcoming the challenges.
